Well it’s not all that new. I have been fascinated by “surface design” since I took an ongoing class in the 1980s. We learned to design and silk screen print our own fabric.

Things are much easier to produce now! The computer is a great aid in figuring out accurate repeats (how the design will repeat seamlessly forever). And “print on demand” sources mean that a little or a lot of fabrics, home linens and other products are produced.
